Hi ,
It seems house buyers want to be 15 minutes away from everything. New
research has revealed that the suburbs most in demand had the '15-minute principle'. This means that a suburb's lifestyle offerings such as proximity to schools, healthcare and restaurants were within 15 minutes from home. It appears
convenience has become more important to people, especially over the last two years where working from home is becoming the norm for many.
Another important factor is 'walk-ability' and creating less of a reliance on a car. To fit the 15-minute principle, suburbs had to have at least one grocery store, medical care centre, cultural centre, school, place of leisure and public transport within a 15-minute walk.
The suburbs most in demand for houses that fit this principle were as follows: Albert Park, Blairgowrie, Montmorency, Sandringham, Hawthorn, Toorak, Northcote, Greensborough, Hampton and Malvern.
It seems what is important to buyers has changed. People are more concerned about what their suburbs can offer them and not just how close they are to the CBD.
