Hi ,
Welcome back! Our team at Chamberlain Property
Advocates hopes you've enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with plenty of festive fun and relaxation.
As we kick off 2024 we are particularly excited to see the proposed changes put forward by the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, as outlined in the 2023 end of year report from CEO Quentin
Kilian.
Of special interest to members of the real estate industry are the REIV's suggestions regarding sector employment and reputation.
In his end of year report, Mr Kilian said:
"We have proposed the introduction of an Interim Certificate for the Certificate IV which, when introduced, would allow students undertaking their Agents Rep qualifications to commence working, after completing a portion of their
studies, and engage in agency activities whilst they complete the remainder of their studies over a set period of time. This approach would help create a pipeline of talent entering the industry. Unfortunately, this is something we have been talking with Government about for over 18 months. I have raised the issue with Minister Williams, and we will continue to push in the new year for its implementation.
I have also commenced discussions with government on what role the REIV could play in the proposed mandatory CPD program for real estate agents. I also spoke, at some length with the Minister, on the proposed changes we had suggested to the previous Minister around S55 of the Estate Agents Act. Again this is something we will take up with the Minister in the New
Year."
This is good news for the industry as it will encourage fresh recruits with enthusiasm, energy and passion for buying and selling real estate in Victoria.
